Pressure Reducing Valve Klasee (PRV) Model G-621 designed to provide a steady constant lower downstream pressure form higher and fluctuating inlet/ upstream pressure. When properly sized, model G-621 will maintain the outlet pressure at the set point +/- 2 psig.
PILOT
The reducing pilot in this configuration is a normally open pilot whereby it remains open at a set point and goes to close when it sense higher outlet pressure. On the contrary it will open when outlet pressure falls below the set point and thus provides a modulating effect for the main valve to throttle and provide steady, constant lower downstream pressure.

Cautions Against Cavitation
By application, pressure reducing valves are subject to pressure differentials that could lead to cavitation. When such incidences occur at intermittent basis, there is little concern for cavitation. In actual fact, the phenomenon of cavitation is complex and therefore cannot be accurately predicated using charts that provided only inlet and outlet pressure. We need the following to do the calculations accurately :
- Valve size
- Inlet/ outlet pressure
- Maximum/ minimum flow (range)
- Fluid type
- Fluid vapor pressure if it is not water
